Birmingham Children's Trust is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team.

Location: One Avenue Road, Aston

Pay Rate: £30.57 per hour (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children subject to safeguarding intervention, ensuring their safety and wellbeing remain the priority.
  • Undertake Child & Family Assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and risk assessments in line with statutory guidance.
  • Develop, implement, and review Child Protection and Child in Need plans, ensuring clear outcomes and effective risk management.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, parents, and wider family networks.
  • Ensure the child's voice, wishes, and feelings are central to assessment, planning, and decision‑making.
  • Identify and respond to complex safeguarding concerns, including neglect, abuse, exploitation, and extra-familial harm.
  • Work closely with police, health, education, Early Help, and other partner agencies to deliver coordinated safeguarding interventions.
  • Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, strategy meetings, and multi-agency planning meetings.
  • Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, care plans, and court documentation where required.
  • Monitor and review risks, taking timely action where circumstances change or concerns elevate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with statutory requirements and Birmingham Children's Trust procedures.
  • Promote strengths-based, relationship-focused, and anti-discriminatory practice to achieve sustainable positive outcomes for children and families.

Essential Requirements

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
