Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic Team Manager to lead our Children In Care Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed group of social workers and professionals who strive to provide the best outcomes for vulnerable children and their families.

As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Children In Care Team.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Leading and managing a team of social workers to ensure high-quality support and intervention for children in care.
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and professional development to team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and local policies.
  • Collaborating with multi-agency partners to promote the welfare and safety of children.
  • Managing case allocations and overseeing the development of care plans.
  • Monitoring and evaluating team performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
  • A Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social work, particularly in a management role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A thorough understanding of child protection legislation and frameworks.
