Locum Social Worker - Intervention & Care Planning Team

Barnet Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Social Worker to join its Intervention & Care Planning Team on a locum basis, offering a competitive rate of £38.50 per hour.

About the Team

The Intervention & Care Planning Team works with children and families where longer-term intervention is required, undertaking assessments, care planning, child protection work, court proceedings and permanence planning. You will hold manageable caseloads and work within a supportive team environment led by experienced managers committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing complex child protection and child in need cases
  • Completing assessments, care plans and statutory visits
  • Working with children subject to Child Protection Plans and Public Law Outline processes
  • Undertaking court work and care proceedings where required
  • Building strong relationships with children, families and partner agencies
  • Delivering high-quality, child-focused social work practice

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience in Children's Services
  • Strong experience within Child Protection, Court Work and Care Planning
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload
  • Excellent assessment, analytical and report-writing skills
