Job Specification – Band 6 Occupational Therapist (Community Neuro Service) Role: Occupational Therapist Banding: 6 Location: Newham – Community Neuro Service Start Date: ASAP Contract: 2.5 months (initial) Hours: 0.6 WTE Overview We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a Community Neuro Service on a locum basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive MDT and make a real impact on patients' recovery and independence. Key Responsibilities: Build therapeutic relationships with clients and their families/carers, using advanced communication and interpersonal skills. Assess and identify functional, physical, cognitive, perceptual and sensory deficits using standardised and non-standardised assessments. Determine occupational therapy aims and treatment goals as part of the overall care plan, based on assessment analysis and risk evaluation. Formulate and implement intervention plans to reduce the impact of disability and ill health. Collaborate with clients and their families/carers to select interventions that balance risk, safety, independence, and cost-effectiveness. Develop specialised OT treatment programmes tailored to patient goals and priorities. Requirements: Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration. Previous Band 6 experience in neuro, community, or similar settings. Strong assessment and caseload management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
