Eden Brown are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Officer to join a Facilities and Estates team on a temporary basis. This key role supports the College in maintaining a safe and compliant learning and working environment for staff, students, and visitors.
You will play a central part in delivering effective health and safety audits, technical support, and compliance monitoring across all college campuses and departments.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with the College's Health and Safety policies.
- Provide technical support and advice on health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and sector best practice.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records in line with statutory and regulatory requirements, including accident, incident, and near miss reporting.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of Health and Safety policies, procedures, and improvement action plans.
- Carry out departmental inspections across a range of settings including classrooms, workshops, offices, and communal spaces.
- Support academic divisions with student risk assessments and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs).
- Coordinate the College's first aid and fire warden provision.
- Prepare clear, timely management reports to support College-wide H&S decision-making.
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance for safety-critical assets.
- Ensure proper PPE usage in all workshop/salon environments and compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training, including role-specific and refresher sessions, reporting on take-up and compliance to senior management.
What We're Looking For
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent as minimum) Diploma desirable.
- Proven experience in a health and safety role, ideally within the education, public, or facilities management sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and inspection methodologies.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient with reporting systems, data tracking, and action planning tools.
