A leading MEP contractor is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a senior role in the design and delivery of high-profile commercial and data centre projects.
The Role
- Take ownership of the mechanical design and coordination process on complex projects.
- Lead project teams, engage with clients and consultants, and ensure technical excellence while keeping a sharp eye on commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design and coordination on large-scale commercial and data centre projects.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Collaborate with consultants, architects, and BIM teams to deliver high-quality, coordinated designs.
- Conduct site inspections and attend client/project meetings.
- Ensure full compliance with UK regulations, CIBSE standards, and industry best practices.
- Maintain a strong commercial focus - monitoring costs, managing budgets, and identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Champion innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in engineering delivery.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in the building services sector, particularly on commercial and data centre projects.
- Strong commercial background with a proven ability to manage budgets, monitor costs, and deliver value.
- Excellent understanding of UK building regulations and MEP coordination.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design/calculation software.
