An innovative, multi-disciplinary, design-led consulting group is looking for a Head of Sustainability to join the team on a 6-month Fixed-Term Contract. As a business, they are dedicated to delivering specialist engineering services that enhance the built environment for the benefit of both people and nature. They are a collective of experienced architects, designers, and engineers who work both independently and in partnership to form a holistic approach to the services they offer.
With a global presence spanning across the USA, UK, Europe, the Middle East, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and beyond, they collaborate with some of the most creative and celebrated architects worldwide. With expertise that encompasses façade design and engineering, advanced structures, sustainability, building physics, acoustics, and more.
They are currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Head of Sustainability to lead and advance their sustainability initiatives through delivering projects, growing the business, and managing the UK team. Based in the London office, you will be instrumental in integrating sustainable practices into their projects and operations and ensuring alignment with their mission to inspire the next generation of sustainable buildings today.
You will be collaborating with the best in the business, undertaking technical responsibility and delivery of Building Physics and Sustainability output on projects across various sectors, including design and analysis on building physics, carbon reduction, sustainable building design, and engineering projects.
The role includes delivering sustainable and low-energy design projects in the built environment, working closely with clients to help them predict, assess and improve their sustainability performance through a collaborative and well-organised approach. You will also be responsible for growing the Sustainability function, providing strategic direction and leading business development opportunities in order to develop the team into a core strand of the business offering.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Sustainability Team to deliver sustainability assessment and design consultancy services within the built environment industry.
- Conduct calculations, computer modelling, and prepare professional consultancy reports, proposals or presentations.
- Project management, delivery and senior stakeholder management.
- Business development for the Sustainability Team through new and existing client base.
- Support work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and external profile-raising of services.
- Develop ongoing strategy to grow and develop the businesses Sustainability offering.
- Mentor and develop more junior members of staff and support growth in their careers.
- Degree holder in engineering/science related to green building, civil & environmental, sustainability, building services, mechanical & electrical or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in green building assessment, sustainability assessment consultancy services.
- Experience of working on projects in the Middle East would be advantageous.
- Experience of ASHRAE 90.1 OR 90.2.
- Ability to develop Carbon Reduction strategies.
- Ability to estimate costs for Part O, Part L and embodied carbon assessments.
- Understanding of NABERS, BREEAM, LEED, TM65, etc.
- Maintain an established understanding of building physics such as thermal bridging, air movement, wind, solar, etc.
