About the Role

Reporting to the Water Project Management Delivery Lead for the UK, your role as Senior Project Manager will involve delivering work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area in consultancy roles. However, there will be opportunity for progression between UK water, environment, rail or nuclear sectors.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will have knowledge and experience in pre- and post-contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC form and procurement within the UK water, environment, rail or nuclear sector. The Senior Project Manager will be expected to utilise their major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement and contract management.

As Senior Project Manager you will have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.

Role Responsibilities

  • NEC3/4 Option A, Option C, Option E ECC Contract management and administration client side
  • Budget control
  • Collaborating with the QS on Payment valuations and certifying monthly payments under ECC and PSC forms of the NEC 4 form of contract
  • Actual cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination in collaboration with the QS
  • Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure appropriate project management records and commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
  • Investigate and draft contract communications and notices including Early Warning Notices, notification of Compensation Events, General Communications in line with best practice

Pre-Contract Activities

  • Conduct initial project scope planning, cost estimates and feasibility studies
  • Preparation of tender documentation
  • Evaluation of tenders
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with contractors early in the design phase

Post-Contract Activities

  • Manage and administer construction contracts
  • Monitor project expenditure and manage cash flow
  • Lead the evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations
  • Claims and dispute resolution
  • Final accounts and post-project evaluation

What do they need from you

  • Bachelor's or master's Degree qualification in a numeric degree
  • Full Membership of a chartered body such as APM or MAPM
  • Postgraduate experience in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/or Environment
  • Line Management and recruitment experience of Project Managers or Assistant Project Managers
  • CDM regulation knowledge and experience
  • Risk management experience
  • Valid CSCS card, with Water Hygiene Card desirable
  • Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
  • An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • This role is subject to client interview and acceptance
  • You will be required to be onsite at our client 3 days per week (Midlands)
