Edelman Smithfield is Edelman UK's financial communications & capital markets specialists. We advise public and private companies on strategic and capital markets communications to position them within the financial community during normalācourse business and transformative events (M&A, IPOs, Spinoffs, Bankruptcy, Investor Relations, etc.). We provide corporate communications support to a wide range of blueāchip financial services firms, and have expertise in asset management, pensions, professional services, insurance and consumer finance, devising highly creative media engagement platforms that differentiate our clients from their peers. We also provide ESG consulting services to support clients in mitigating risks, capturing business opportunities, and earning the trust of all stakeholders, including investors.
We are looking for an Assistant Account Executive to join the growing team. The candidate will be part of our specialised team of financial communications practitioners, gaining broad exposure to Edelman senior leadership and supporting on all core account tasks, including research and analysis, issues and media monitoring, client collateral and document development, execution of social media and digital strategies, and media relations and outreach. This position is ideal for an individual looking to take part in a fastāpaced, intellectually challenging environment and to acquire the skills necessary to become a successful financial communications practitioner and advisor to companies of all sizes and operating across all industries.
Responsibilities- Support in creation of communications plans and goals, including development of both tactical and strategic elements, and manage against them.
- Drives and executes strategic media relations programs.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of clients' businesses, as well as their key stakeholders: employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners and other businesses/organizations, and will be able to impart this knowledge to account team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and accurately judge and edit work of others.
- Serves as daily client support and support the client lead when appropriate.
- Participate in the quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline/budget adherence.
- Be a collaborative team member by motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, and holding yourself accountable.
- Participate in new business process including research, proposal and pitch preparation.
- Demonstrate behaviours consistent with Edelman's values (Quality, Integrity, Respect, Entrepreneurial Spirit) and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Excellent organisational skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines.
- Organised and detailāoriented; able to multiātask various responsibilities.
- Ability to think critically and demonstrate good judgement.
- Good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work effectively within a team is a must.
- A solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, general office logistics and knowledge of supporting communications platforms.
- Strong work ethic and dedication to consistently provide quality work to his/her team and clients.
- Previous relevant experience is preferred, but not required, in financial communications and/or related experience in research, investment management, consulting, marketing, and finance.
