Ede & Ravenscroft is London's oldest tailors and received its first royal commission in 1689 when it was entrusted to create the robes for the coronation of William and Mary. Ede & Ravenscroft is committed to delivering the traditional values which have built its reputation, holding all two royal warrants and crafting fine quality clothes. We supply ceremonial robes for all occasions, dress the judiciary (including providing handmade wigs) and ensure that graduates from all over the world look their best at graduation ceremonies and have high quality photographs to remember their day.

We are currently recruiting a high calibre full-time (39 hours a week, working 0730 to 1630 & 0730 to 1230 on Friday) Computerised Cutting Operator/Warehouse to join our Littleport team. Immediate start is preferred.

Main duties will include:

  • Carrying out efficient processing of the cutting machine ensuring efficient operation and adherence to the cutting plan.
  • Record material usage accurately.
  • Pattern Knowledge & building up knowledge of all patterns for gowns and hoods.
  • Ability to follow pattern requirements & ensuring material is used efficiently.
  • Materials Identification & Building up knowledge of raw materials and trims.
  • Ensure quality control of raw material, developing an understanding of storage requirements for all raw materials.
  • Understand material usage and recording of stock.
  • Warehouse responsibilities; checking fabrics on delivery and dealing with shipments.
  • Clarify specialist cutting bespoke requirements for orders; Ensure correct patterns & materials are used.
  • Hand Cutting - Clarify specifications and requirements for orders that need to be hand cut & ensuring correct patterns and materials are used.
  • Using the Cutting Machine; Understand processing of cutting machine, computer control maintained to ensure smooth running and efficiency.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail, ability to prioritise and commitment to quality.
  • Computer controlled cutting machine experience is required.
  • Previous experience of hand cutting is desirable.
  • A willingness to learn to hand cut is essential if these skills are not already held.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and multi-task.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, you must be eager to carry out a large variety of cutting duties based on changing business requirements.
  • Must be a team player with a positive and helpful disposition, also capable of working on own initiative to tight deadlines.
