For this role, we are looking for a Mechanical Associate Engineer who can lead change and mentor engineers within their team ensuring best-in-class engineering. As a Mechanical Associate Engineer with EDC, you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of your engineering discipline, and a strong understanding of the other disciplines offered by the company while also leading and managing the full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes.
- Lead and support the delivery of Mechanical Engineering design on projects of all sizes, ensuring high technical standards, strong project performance and excellent client care.
- Manage and support the mechanical design process to ensure deliverables meet project requirements, programme and relevant standards.
- Provide quality control for Mechanical Engineering projects and support consistency of technical output across the office.
- Support project cost control and maintain awareness of project performance with assistance from the wider team.
- Support the implementation of new systems, technologies and processes where appropriate.
- Attend design meetings, workshops and site visits as required.
- Maintain and promote the reputation of EDC within the industry and support strong client relationships.
- Demonstrate a willingness to continue developing technical, leadership and commercial skills with the aim of progressing to Associate Director.
Minimum Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience. Expert user of Microsoft Office. Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, dynamic energy modelling software advantageous. Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience a strong advantage. Chartership desirable.
Proven experience of delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle. Expert knowledge and experience in the following Mechanical design areas: Water Services, Heating / LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, above-ground drainage and BMS. Deep knowledge of building regulations, particularly TGD part B, F, G, L and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in design and project lead. Excel at working on several projects simultaneously and show the ability to prioritise and plan work. Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performances, including satisfied clients, profitable projects, and maintaining EDC’s reputation to enable repeat work. Demonstrate a good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings. Exhibit leadership qualities while working as part of a team. Ability to make prompt, disciplined project decisions. Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills. Commercial Awareness.
