We have continued to increase our workload and deliver quality and innovative engineering solutions. As pioneers in the design of low-energy, high-performance buildings and systems, EDC fully supports the importance placed on sustainability and welcomes the challenges this presents. We are the first BIM Level 2 Certified Consultancy in the UK and Ireland and deliver projects from our four offices in Ireland – Cork, Limerick, Galway & Dublin, our UK office based in London and our Istanbul Office in Turkey. EDC has also seen significant recent expansion overseas in the African market.

OUR MISSION Committed to delivering excellence in MEP & sustainability services where we can add positive impact to the environment and our society.

OUR VISION To be recognised as the UK and Ireland's leading experts in sustainable MEP engineering, known for excellence in delivery, innovation, and a commitment to a resilient, environmentally responsible future achieved by putting our people first and investing in their continuous development.

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES EDC is preparing for a future where engineering and BIM are increasingly integrated. To lead this, we are seeking a Group Head of BIM — a senior leadership role with business-wide accountability for how engineering design is translated into BIM delivery. This role owns the end-to-end workflow from engineering design intent through to Revit-based BIM delivery, ensuring quality, consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all EDC offices and remote teams. This role can be based from any of our Ireland Offices (Cork, Limerick, Galway & Dublin) or UK Office (London). You will lead BIM as a core business function, ensuring that delivery is standardised, commercially robust, and aligned with engineering outputs.

The Group Head of BIM is responsible for:

  • Owning and governing BIM delivery across EDC
  • Designing and continuously improving the engineering-to-BIM workflow
  • Ensuring BIM delivery is standardised, compliant (ISO 19650), and commercially robust
  • Driving measurable efficiency and quality improvements through BIM processes
  • Leading people, standards, systems, and performance across offices
  • Owning BIM delivery performance, including resource utilisation and commercial outcomes (hours vs fee)
  • Owning BIM input into tenders and external positioning of EDC’s BIM capability

This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical credibility, people management, and operational accountability.

  • Ensure workflows are scalable, repeatable, and embedded into standards and QA
  • Use live project data (hours, QA, delivery issues) to monitor performance and intervene where required

Operational Excellence & Delivery Performance

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement BIM-driven improvements
  • Build business cases for tools and capability investment
  • Own BIM hours performance across projects (burn vs fee, risk identification)
  • Intervene in underperforming projects and approve corrective actions where required

People Leadership & Capability

  • Lead BIM Leads across all offices and work closely with the Digital Process Lead
  • Set expectations, KPIs, and development plans for BIM team members
  • Own BIM capability development, including competency frameworks, training, and succession planning
  • Manage BIM resource allocation and capacity across offices

QA, Compliance & Standards

  • Design and operate BIM QA frameworks and stage-gate reviews
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650
  • Lead audits and corrective actions
  • Own BIM standards (BEPs, templates, golden rules, etc.)
  • Own the implementation of ISO 19650 in delivery (aligned with Quality Lead ownership of the system)
  • Oversee live QA, ensuring standards are applied and enforced across projects
  • Own the BIM software stack, including governance and approval of tools
  • Lead tool assessments, roll out and team adoption and ensure compliance with ISO 19650 data requirements
  • Own the Common Data Environment (ACC / BIM 360), including structure, permissions, and usage standards
  • Ensure consistent use of approved tools across all offices

Commercial & Client Engagement

  • Monitor BIM cost, productivity, and input to pricing and bids
  • Support project teams on BIM scope and resourcing
  • Represent EDC externally and monitor industry trends
  • Lead BIM input into major tenders, including requirements, compliance, and client positioning
  • Support client engagement and elevate BIM issues beyond project level where required
  • Own the BIM innovation and AI BIM related agenda
  • Identify, pilot, and roll out new tools and improvements
  • Manage and prioritise BIM initiatives based on business impact
  • Provide regular reporting on BIM performance, risks, and delivery metrics
  • Act as escalation point for BIM delivery issues and cross-office challenges

People & Culture

  • Set tone and ambition for the BIM community
  • Champion quality, compliance, and digital culture
  • Support wellbeing, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
  • Build a consistent, connected BIM community across all offices

Note: The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and may vary as necessitated by your evolving role and the overall business objectives of the company. The post-holder will be required to maintain and enhance their knowledge, skills, and aptitudes necessary to respond to a changing environment.
