Lead the aspects of Body Exterior systems (including closures, exterior trim, glazing and interfaces) in line with project targets, KPIs and milestones. Act as the key interface between EDAG and the customer(s) for responsible commodity with the ability to professionally interact with clients. Lead and support meetings, e.g. steering committees, project reviews, start-up meetings, etc. Direct and liaise with local and EDAG Group technical design/engineering resource to achieve project goals. Guide/coach team to build knowledge. Control data maturity and status including recording and tracking issues. Set and manage delivery of interior systems including function, timing, performance, cost weight and quality. Collaborate with interior suppliers and support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events. Coordinate cross-functional reviews for the resolution of technical issues both with EDAG Group engineers and customers. Support prototype, pre- and production vehicle builds on-site. Demonstrate EDAG's excellent reputation while working directly and seamlessly with customers on their projects. Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design. Knowledge and understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree 2:1 or above
- 10+ years experience of automotive programmes preferably in Body Exterior systems
- Very strong, relevant professional experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to overcome cultural barriers
- Demonstrate strong customer, team & supplier management skills
- An ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure and to manage time effectively under tight and rigid deadlines
- Ability to identify key project attributes targets related to the role and support through the appropriate level of vehicle/system analysis
- Ability to perform packaging study of components
- Demonstrate FMEA and root cause analysis experience
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, ideally Green Belt qualified
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Very good proficiency in CATIA V5/V6, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio
- Ability to travel to customer site in Midlands
