As a Calibration Engineer - Electric Powertrain Systems, you will be responsible for the functional calibration and optimisation of HV powertrain and charging systems across HEV, PHEV, and BEV architectures. The role focuses on calibration strategy definition, software release support, and functional tuning using HIL, system test benches, and vehicles. You will work closely with software, system, and test & validation teams to ensure robust, efficient, and compliant electric powertrain performance.

Activities

  • Define and maintain baseline calibrations for each electric powertrain software release
  • Perform functional calibration of HV powertrain and charging systems, including:
  • Energy management
  • Thermal management
  • Charging control (AC/DC)
  • Torque management
  • High voltage safety and diagnostics
  • Execute calibration activities on:
    • HIL platforms
    • System and powertrain test benches
    • Vehicles (road and laboratory environments)
  • Use industry-standard calibration tools such as INCA and CANape
  • Review and assess Simulink models developed in-house by the software team
  • Ensure calibration parameters and strategies are:
    • Correctly implemented in software
    • Aligned with system requirements and functional intent
  • Support software integration, testing, and release activities
  • Provide feedback to software teams to improve model structure, tunability, and calibration robustness
  • Create and execute calibration test cases derived from system and functional requirements
  • Analyse measurements, logs, and KPIs to assess:
    • Functional performance
    • Efficiency and drivability
    • Thermal and safety behaviour
  • Document results and produce clear calibration and validation reports
  • Support issue investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution
  • Requirements

    • Engineering degree (2:1 or above)
    • 5+ years' experience in calibration or electric powertrain engineering roles
    • Strong experience in HV systems and related regulations
    • Experience in HEV, PHEV or BEV architectures
    • Create test specifications based on HV system requirements
    • Experience in reviewing and working with Simulink models
    • Hands-on experience with INCA and/or CANape
    • Experience in performing calibration on HIL, system benches and vehicles
    • Experience in test case automation on HIL or test benches is a nice to have
    • Knowledge of the automotive software development and release processes
    • Strong data analysis and reporting skills
    • Ability to overcome cultural barriers
    • Demonstrate strong customer, team & supplier management skills
    • Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure and to manage time effectively under tight and rigid deadlines
