EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs) and a partner in the RESC Alliance, working collaboratively to support state-wide initiatives. EdAdvance exists to promote the success of school districts and their communities, redefining what a Regional Education Service Center can be using a systemic approach—grounded in the "3C's", Connection Culture, and Customization.
EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before School Program) in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during before-school hours (6:45 am‑8:45 am). The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
Major Responsibilities:- Assist the Site Coordinator in the operation of the before school program daily
- Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment
- Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
- Set up and clean up the program site
- First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, college coursework in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
- Experience working with School Aged Children
- Knowledge of Child Development
- Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Priority given to current Vogel Wetmore School Employees
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students
