We’re looking for an experienced

Finance Automation & Power BI Consultant to undertake a focused piece of work to improve financial reporting, management information and automation across the business.

This is not a traditional 3-6 month contract .

We’re looking for someone who can come in, understand how Finance currently operates, identify where time is being lost through manual processes, and then implement practical improvements.

The engagement is expected to be relatively short and outcome-focused, potentially involving a combination of an initial discovery/review period followed by a defined package of work delivered over a number of days or weeks.

The Opportunity

  • You’ll work directly with Finance and key business stakeholders to understand:
  • How financial information is currently produced and reported.
  • Where data comes from and how different systems interact.
  • Which processes rely on manual intervention or spreadsheets.
  • Where data is duplicated, manipulated or manually reconciled.
  • Where reporting and management information could be automated.
  • What dashboards, KPIs and visual reporting would give leadership better insight.
  • Where more timely or near-real-time financial information could be provided.

Following the initial review, you’ll help agree a prioritised set of improvements and then build and implement them .

  • Improving visibility of revenue, profitability, cash flow, debtors, budgets and forecasts.
  • Identifying further opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Documenting solutions and providing knowledge transfer to the internal team.
  • What We’re Looking For

The Person

Technical ability is important, but this engagement is about more than building dashboards.

We want someone who can look at an existing process and ask: "Why are we doing it this way?"

  • You should be able to
  • Understand business and Finance requirements quickly.
  • Work independently with minimal hand-holding.
  • Speak confidently with Finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Translate business problems into practical solutions.
  • Challenge existing processes constructively.
  • Build solutions yourself rather than simply providing recommendations.
  • Focus on outcomes rather than simply completing tasks.
  • Engagement

This is deliberately a flexible, outcome-focused consultancy engagement .

We are not looking to fill a traditional fixed-term contract.

The initial requirement is expected to involve a discovery/review phase, followed by an agreed package of prioritised improvements.

The work could be delivered over a number of days or weeks , either consecutively or on a flexible basis, depending on the scope identified.

The engagement will conclude once the agreed improvements have been delivered, documented and handed over to the internal team.
