The Business
One of the top SME businesses in the health foods sector are hiring for a new NPD Manager. This is a business that has exploded onto the scene with massive growth plans in grocery retail, a Founder led team that is second to none and a culture up there with the best the industry has to offer.
This is a brand that is as disruptive as they come and are doing so for the betterment of society and the food we eat. They have a brilliant team that has fantastic ideas putting the foundations in place with superb brand building which has created a strong following in their consumers and customer set.
These guys are serious, the products are the best tasting on the market & the NPD pipeline is incredible. The time has come for the business to upskill and add firepower to their resources, with this role playing a pivotal part in the strategy for years to come and becoming part of the operating board in the following years.
The Role – NPD Manager:
The NPD Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects of the food production process, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, improving product quality, and leading technical innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, food technology, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Drive technical projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive.
Food Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and standards, including HACCP, and other applicable laws.
- Implement and maintain food safety programs, including regular audits and inspections.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and certification organizations as needed.
Product Development and Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with NPD to develop new products and improve existing ones.
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet the highest quality standards.
- Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies to validate product performance.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities with manufacturers for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, including Operations, Marketing, and Sales, to align technical activities with business goals.
- Provide technical support and expertise to address customer inquiries and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Do you have some of the below?:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a technical development role within the food industry.
- Food labeling and HACCP.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and product development processes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a technical team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
