Pertemps are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well‑known Public Sector organisation in Glasgow, for a Support for Learning Assistant to start immediately on a temporary basis.

Temporary

Part time, Monday and Thursday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

Salary: £13.93 per hour

A PVG for children will be required for this role

Main Purpose Of The Role

To support students who require additional learning and behavioural assistance within the faculty. You will also be required to support teaching and learning activities such as scribing, preparing materials for classroom activities and distributing equipment and learning materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enable students to overcome restrictions or difficulties, including mobility problems, encountered as a result of their disabilities
  • Facilitate and promote maintenance of students independence, via monitoring of issues related to conduct and transport
  • Recording and reporting as laid down in the Support for Learning procedures to programme leaders and senior lecturers as necessary
  • Provide supervision of students during non‑class times, on arrival or departure, during breaks and at lunch times
  • Facilitate liaison with parents or carers, external agencies and partner providers on behalf of programme leaders
  • Responsible for administration of student review process in collaboration with programme leaders, carers or external agencies, as required
  • Arrange student transportation in collaboration with programme leaders, students, carers or external agencies
  • Provide reports as required for student reviews and inclusion in the Personal Learning Support Plan
  • Process appropriate documentation

Key Skills And Requirements

  • Experience working within a learner support environment
  • Experience of working within adults with additional support needs
  • PVG for working with Children
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within established systems and processes
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Use initiative
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver to deadlines
  • Display good organisational and time management skills
