Contract Role: Service Architect - Observability Operating Model
Location: Remote (UK-based)
Duration: 4 Months (August - December 2025)

We are seeking an experienced Service Architect to support the design and implementation of a fully productionised Observability Operating Model for a major digital transformation programme within a large-scale enterprise. The organisation is building out its observability capability through the deployment of a modern suite of monitoring and AIOps tools. The goal is to develop these into a cohesive and scalable Observability Service that supports technical teams and provides value to business Centres of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observability Service Architecture: Design a service-aligned structure that brings together the observability toolset into a consistent, scalable, and supportable platform.
- Automation & AIOps Integration: Define processes to support automated monitoring and intelligent operations; ensure service requirements are embedded in use-case development.
- Operational Processes & Controls: Define governance, KPIs, and SLAs to support a seamless transition to BAU. Design the operating model required to manage and run the new service, including compliance readiness.
- Security Integration: Work with internal security stakeholders to ensure the observability service meets relevant security standards and risk requirements.
- Onboarding Framework: Develop a process to ensure that new projects and services are designed with observability in mind, and that all outputs are properly monitored and costed within governance frameworks.
- Process & Integration Assessment: Review existing service integration processes, identify gaps or areas for improvement, and align recommendations with wider programme and PMO structures.
Required Experience:
- Experience designing and implementing Observability Operating Models in large organisations.
- Strong understanding of observability principles, service architecture, and automation practices.
- Track record of embedding governance, operational readiness, and service scalability.
- Ability to engage across technical and business teams to integrate observability into broader transformation goals.
- Familiarity with compliance, risk management, and security considerations in large IT environments.
