We're currently looking for an experienced Cyber Security Architect to join a leading organisation within the telecommunications sector on a fully remote, Outside IR35 contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in large-scale transformation programmes spanning cloud, infrastructure, applications and network environments, including next-generation 4G/5G technologies.
As a Cyber Security Architect, you will be responsible for ensuring security is embedded into the design and delivery of business-critical platforms and services. Working closely with architecture, engineering, cloud and infrastructure teams, you will provide security leadership, conduct architecture reviews, perform threat modelling, and define security controls across complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain secure architecture principles, standards and reference architectures.
- Conduct security architecture and design reviews across cloud, infrastructure, applications and network environments.
- Perform threat modelling and security risk assessments.
- Design secure-by-design solutions across cloud, hybrid infrastructure, applications, identity and network environments.
- Support the implementation of Zero Trust security principles.
- Provide architectural guidance across AWS and Azure environments.
- Define security controls covering IAM, PAM, encryption, network segmentation, monitoring and vulnerability management.
- Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure security requirements are embedded throughout the technology lifecycle.
- Assess emerging technologies and provide risk-based security recommendations.
- Engage with senior technical and business stakeholders to influence security decisions across major programmes.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Cyber Security Architect, Security Architect, Lead Security Architect or similar.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise security architecture and secure-by-design principles.
- Experience securing AWS and/or Azure environments.
- Hands-on experience conducting threat modelling and security risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of IAM, PAM and modern authentication solutions.
- Experience with network security, segmentation, firewalls, VPNs and secure connectivity.
- Experience reviewing applications, infrastructure, cloud and network architectures.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Knowledge of security frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001 and CIS Controls.
Desirable Experience
- Telecommunications experience.
- Exposure to 4G/5G environments, telecoms infrastructure or network security.
- Zero Trust architecture.
- Hybrid and multi-cloud security environments.
- DevSecOps and CI/CD security practices.
- SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP or CISM certifications.
- Experience within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or highly regulated environments.
