We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Design Engineer to join a major IT Services provider in a lead, design-assurance role supporting large-scale European data centre programmes. This is not a pure build role. You will act as a technical authority, reviewing designs, shaping delivery plans, and overseeing implementation across complex, enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve data centre designs (new build and expansion)
- Act as lead technical engineer / design authority
- Develop high-level delivery and implementation plans
- Provide technical governance throughout the project lifecycle
- Oversee implementation and resolve design or delivery risks
- Engage with internal teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders
- Support design sign-off and senior technical discussions
Required Experience
- Strong experience delivering large-scale data centre deployments
- Proven data centre design background (compute, storage, network, power, cooling)
- Experience operating as a lead engineer or technical authority
- Able to translate designs into practical delivery plans
- Comfortable overseeing delivery rather than day-to-day build
- Willing to travel across Europe (approx. 50%)
Desirable
- Exposure to AI / HPC data centre environments (e.g. GPU-dense, NVIDIA platforms)
- Experience with high-density, high-power DC designs
- Background working for an IT services provider or systems integrator
