Overview: Maintenance & Testing Electrician (EICRs) — Location: Northampton, and surrounding areas. This isn’t a “swap a socket and clock off” kind of role. We’re looking for a skilled electrician who thrives on keeping systems safe, reliable, and compliant. If you enjoy fault-finding, hands-on repairs, and making sure every circuit is up to spec, this could be the job for you.

At ECS, we’re a multi-award-winning compliance and maintenance team working across social housing, public sector sites, and commercial buildings. We combine deep industry knowledge with smart tech to make inspections smoother, repairs faster, and safety a given — not a goal.

Why this job might be your next move:

  • £36,000 to £40,000 DOE, plus benefits and a company vehicle (your mobile workshop)
  • You’ll be the go-to for keeping homes and buildings safe and functional
  • Work on meaningful projects in social housing and public sector environments
  • Use modern tools and equipment that make your job easier and more efficient
  • Join a supportive team with room to grow and develop your skills

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conducting thorough Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across a range of properties
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults (C1s and C2s) on-site — not just flagging them
  • Carrying out remedial works such as emergency lighting replacement, and issuing Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) where needed
  • Ensuring all work complies with current regulations (18th Edition)
  • Managing your own schedule while staying connected with the wider team
  • Travelling within an hour radius to various sites

What we’re looking for:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
  • 18th Edition qualified — you know your way around the regs
  • Inspection & Testing certification: City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395, 2391-52 or EAL equivalent
  • Solid experience in social housing or similar environments
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset — you take pride in doing things right
  • Strong communication skills — clear, professional, and jargon-free
  • A safety-first attitude — always
