Class Teacher (SEMH/SEND) – Ages 13–18 Location: Westcliff-on-Sea Salary: Β£35,000 to Β£40,000 Contract: Permanent Start Date: January 2027 Teach Where Relationships Come First We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and resilient Class Teacher to join our specialist provision for students aged 13–18. Our School works closely with our children's homes to provide a consistent, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment where children feel safe, understood, and able to learn. This is a role for a Teacher who believes in the power of connection, who sees behaviour as communication, and who is committed to helping young people rebuild trust in education. Your Role Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the learning needs of the students Creating a calm, structured, and emotionally safe classroom environment Using trauma-informed strategies to support regulation, resilience, and positive relationships Working closely with the children's home team to ensure consistency across home and school Planning personalised learning pathways that build confidence and celebrate progress Using assessment to inform teaching and track holistic development Supporting students with social, emotional, and communication needs Contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach that places the child at the centre What We're Looking For A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) Experience teaching secondary-aged students, ideally within SEMH/SEND settings Strong subject knowledge, particularly Maths and Science The ability to deliver engaging lessons A relational, reflective, and child-centred approach Confidence in adapting the curriculum to meet diverse needs Strong behaviour support skills grounded in empathy and understanding Excellent communication and teamwork, especially across care and education A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children What We Offer A supportive, trauma-informed team culture Close collaboration with the residential team to ensure joined-up care Small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio Ongoing CPD, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic approaches A chance to make a profound difference in the lives of children who deserve stability, belief, and opportunity How to Apply Please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your experience and motivativation.
