North Yorkshire Police are looking for a Head of Finance to join a dynamic Finance Team. This role is suitable for an experienced finance professional who can combine technical expertise with strategic leadership.
You will provide leadership to Finance staff across Management and Financial Accounting, Accounts payable and receivable, Treasury Management, and VAT, ensuring a high-quality finance service for the force. In partnership with senior leaders, you will develop and implement medium-term financial plans aligned to the force’s strategic priorities, and lead the closedown process for Final Accounts. As a member of the Finance leadership team you will offer expert advice on viability and funding strategies, maintain governance and compliance standards, and drive forecasted performance through KPI achievement. You will strengthen financial planning, business insight and resource management to keep NYP financially resilient while meeting the ambitions of Our Plan on a Page 2024-2029.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive financial management experience at both operational and strategic levels.
- Professional Accountancy Qualification and membership of a CCAB body (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA) or CIMA.
- Substantial experience in Financial Planning, Control and Reporting, and leading change management projects.
- Excellent leadership, people skills, and a clear customer focus, with the ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate options for decision making and organisational performance.
- Strong networking, communication and influencing skills to form effective working relationships at all levels and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to provide balanced advice on strategic issues that achieve corporate and service objectives while improving financial sustainability.
