Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in rail or major infrastructure? Do you enjoy managing technically complex projects while working closely with clients and contractors? Vextrix is a growing, socially conscious consultancy, and we are now looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team.
The role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be based in our London office with regular site work in St Albans and travel across the UK as required. You will support the delivery of infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on the rail sector within a Delivery or Design & Build environment. You will work closely with client-side teams, supporting project delivery and ensuring effective contract administration. This role offers a mix of office and site-based responsibilities, with around 50% of your time spent on site during the first two years.
Key Responsibilities
- Support NEC Project Management activities and contract administration
- Manage post-tender processes including variations, compensation events and final accounts
- Coordinate with contractors, clients and Network Rail stakeholders
- Produce client reports and manage project communication
- Oversee site activities, ensuring health and safety standards are met
- Support the management of contractor and consultant relationships
- Assist with budget control, change management and technical coordination

The person
- Proven experience in rail project management
- Understanding of Network Rail procedures and third-party delivery
- Experience with NEC and JCT contracts
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- Degree in an engineering or technical discipline
- Working towards or holding APM (or similar) accreditation
- Comfortable working both on site and in client-facing roles
- Desirable experience includes asset protection processes, full project lifecycle delivery, and chartership with a recognised body.
