Gardener- £31,454 FTE, £15,727 Pro Rata -London, W10 The Role Do you have proven experience in gardening and horticulture? We are seeking an experienced Gardener to join our Grounds and Gardens team at Westway Trust. Working under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining and enhancing our outdoor spaces for the benefit of the local community. You will bring your knowledge and commitment to ensuring that our gardens and green areas remain safe, welcoming and beautiful for all who visit. This is a part time position working 20 hours per week, with occasional weekend work. Key Responsibilities: Carrying out a full range of gardening tasks, including planting, watering, pruning, mowing, weeding, pest and disease control, and general upkeep of green spaces Maintaining and improving soft and hard landscaping on Trust land Assisting in keeping grounds clean, tidy and safe, and reporting any damage Working collaboratively with the Facilities and Events teams to support activities across the estate Welcoming and working alongside volunteers and community groups Safely operating and maintaining tools, machinery and equipment, ensuring they are properly stored Recording incidents and occurrences as required Engaging positively with the public in line with our Equality policies Supporting biodiversity and sustainability within the gardens The Company Westway Trust is a dynamic and forward-thinking charity located in the heart of Portobello, West London. Experience as a gardener. Good communication skills and team working skills. Ability to work using initiative and be proactive, reliable and flexible. Good knowledge of plants, horticulture, horticultural processes and good plant identification skills. Practical ability to use and maintain tools. Experience of working in public open spaces. Knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures. Experience of managing greenhouse/indoor plants and plant propagation. Knowledge of pests and diseases and how to eliminate them. Demonstrable commitment to biodiversity and improving green spaces. Demonstrable understanding of the needs of diverse communities and a commitment to equality of opportunity.
