The Senior Estimator shall be responsible for Pre-Construction Estimating, working closely and directly with internal/external clients, other disciplines and teams from project inception, accountable and responsible for all financial and estimating aspects of the projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Liaising with the Estimating Director/Commercial Director/Finance department on contractual terms, bonds and insurances.
- Sound knowledge of Estimating on large scale building projects.
- Pricing from first principles, procurement of subs/materials quotes, preparation of tender settlement sheets to main contractor's Prelims.
- Managing all estimating elements with interface with suppliers, clients and across our commercial, operations and project functions.
- Understanding the corporate and contract specific estimating procedures and carrying out all work in accordance with these.
- Preparation of estimates from conception through to detailed estimates for identified projects within the company.
- Assisting in the training of estimating staff and trainees/graduates working in or seconded to the department.
- Liaising with procurement in dealing with suppliers and subcontractors at tender stage to obtain the most competitive prices ensuring firm quotes are received for significant materials and subcontract items.
- Running multiple projects at any one time at different stages, cost plan, design feasibility, competitive tender.
- Database management.
- Subcontract analysis and comparisons.
- Proven track record as an Estimator with Construction experience.
- Proficiency in estimating software.
- Educated to degree or HND level in a Construction or related field with relevant work experience.
