We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical & Quality Manager to lead technical excellence and quality assurance across a Group Protection claims function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring consistent, accurate and high-quality claims decision-making, while embedding robust risk, compliance and regulatory controls across the claims environment. You will lead and develop a small team of senior claims professionals, acting as a technical authority for complex and high-value cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the claims quality framework, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes
- Lead a structured sampling and audit programme, providing insight and driving performance improvements
- Provide technical oversight and approval for complex and high-value claims
- Line manage and develop a team of senior claims consultants
- Chair and contribute to calibration panels to ensure aligned decision-making
- Drive technical training and knowledge sharing across the team
- Engage with reinsurers and medical professionals to enhance claims capability
- Ensure compliance with risk, legal, regulatory and data protection standards
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Strong background in Protection claims (Group Protection preferred)
- Proven experience handling complex claims, appeals and disputes
- Exposure to high-value claims decisions and reinsurance referrals
- Experience in quality assurance, sampling or control frameworks
- Previous leadership or team management experience
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of protection products and policy conditions
- Knowledge of claims risk, controls and compliance frameworks
- Good working knowledge of medical evidence in claims assessment
- Understanding of handling sensitive and personal data
Skills
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Clear and confident communication skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and challenge constructively
- Strong leadership and coaching capability
