Business Development Manager (Commercial Solar)
About the job:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a proven track record in commercial solar sales. You will lead our growth strategy across the Hard FM, Property Management, Commercial, and Industrial sectors, driving both new business acquisition and long-term client partnerships. The role covers new solar installations as well as our three-core rooftop solar services – preventative maintenance, panel cleaning, and pigeon proofing. With increasing demand in these areas, this is a prime opportunity to deliver significant revenue growth while strengthening relationships that ensure sustainable, long-term success.
About Ecovision:
Ecovision has extensive experience in design, installation and managing distributed rooftop solar PV asset portfolios across the UK.
We have installed over 5500 systems and currently manage over 19,000 installations across mainland UK (63MWp capacity), primarily on behalf of Portfolio Investors, Councils and Housing Associations. We have a strong track record of managing long term solar performance and work with clients to minimise operational costs whilst maximising the generation of renewable energy.

What You’ll Do
- Drive business growth across key sectors, focusing on new rooftop solar installations and our core 3P services: preventative maintenance, panel cleaning, and pigeon proofing.
- Consistently achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive lead generation, strategic customer targeting, and market offer development in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing Director.
- Monitor and analyse market trends, commercial conditions, and competitor activity to inform pricing, positioning, and service development.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders, including C-Suite executives, Property Managers, Facilities Managers, Operations Managers, Contract Managers, and Energy Managers.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation and proposals to contract negotiation, closure, and seamless handover to Operations.
- Take ownership of key accounts, ensuring excellent communication, service delivery, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with the Sales & Marketing Director to identify, evaluate, and capitalise on new market opportunities.
- Lead impactful client presentations, prepare tailored proposals, and negotiate contracts to secure new business.
- Conduct site visits to assess property suitability, gather technical details, and present solutions to clients.
- Represent Ecovision at industry events, networking opportunities, and sector forums to raise brand visibility and build connections.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Technical, and Engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery and long-term customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to the company’s growth strategy by supporting sales initiatives and business development activities.
- Undertake other reasonable ad hoc duties as required by your Line Manager.
What You’ll Need
- A proven track record of generating leads, securing deals, and consistently exceeding sales targets within the Hard FM, Property Management, Commercial, and Industrial sectors.
- An established network of industry contacts to leverage for business growth.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Solar PV systems, technologies, and emerging trends in the sector.
- Solid knowledge of solar PV design and products, including panels, mounting systems, and battery storage solutions.
- Familiarity with solar financing models such as Capex, PPA, and Asset Finance.
- The ability to take full commercial ownership of the sales cycle, from prospecting to closure, with a focus on driving revenue growth.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and sustain relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders.
- Persuasive, professional communication skills that foster client satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- A proactive, self-motivated mindset with the drive to refine systems, processes, and strategies for continuous improvement.
- A “hunter” mentality with resilience, determination, and a results-driven approach.
Location: Hybrid with some travel throughout the UK.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus a competitive commission package and Car allowance (Electrical Company car option after completing a successful probation period), OTE £80,000+
