About the Role

As a Site Manager at Ecosulis, you’ll lead the delivery of environmental projects such as landscaping, habitat creation, and nature recovery. You’ll manage on-site teams day to day, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This is a hands-on role combining practical involvement with strong leadership to drive performance, maintain quality, and achieve project goals.

• A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables

• Carry out site maintenance tasks, including vegetation clearance, strimming, mowing, grass cutting, and applying herbicides in line with project requirements and environmental standards.
• Deliver project-specific works, such as ground preparation, tree planting, wildflower meadow/grassland seeding, and creating ecological features like ponds and wetlands.
• Manage all aspects of onsite operations, with a strong focus on health and safety compliance and adherence to company procedures.
• Develop and communicate daily work plans to the site team, ensuring clear direction, task completion, and maintaining productivity by actively assisting when needed.
• Oversee the use and condition of resources, including plant, tools, materials, and labour, ensuring their appropriate and efficient allocation.
• Direct and supervise subcontractors, including excavator and tractor drivers, to ensure tasks are completed safely and to specification.
• Receive and sign off deliveries of materials and equipment, checking for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily records, reports, and site-related paperwork.
• Liaise with clients regularly, providing updates on work progress, timescales, and promptly addressing any issues or concerns.
• Deliver site inductions for new staff and visitors, and conduct regular toolbox talks to promote a safe and informed working environment.
• Delivering and responsible for the ECoWs (Ecological Clerks of Works) at EKFB, ensuring they are fully supported, compliant with ecological standards, and delivering their duties effectively.
• Conduct competency assessments for all site-based staff, recording outcomes and identifying any training or development needs.
• Proactively collaborate with senior management and oversee site team training, updating and implementing plans to support professional development and regulatory compliance, and provide recommendations to the Senior Site Manager and Head of HR ahead of HR cycles.
• Adopt a proactive leadership style, consistently identifying and acting on opportunities to improve operational efficiency, project quality, and team performance.
• Feed into the resource meetings, offering expertise and guidance to the holistic view of resource across the business and all projects.
• Demonstrate a measured and consultative management approach to your direct reports. You will support your team’s development and daily wellbeing, conduct 1-2-1 reviews, manage absences, and liaise with HR on any employee relations matters.
• Work in partnership with the EKFB Project Manager to ensure the project is delivered with the agreed contract and the delivery of the project is compliant with company policies and procedures.
• Any additional ad hoc duties from the Senior Site Manager or Head of Function.

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience working across environmental or ecological projects, as well as managing teams.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Committed and dedicated.
• Proven ability to proactively manage day-to-day operations while supporting wider strategic goals.
• Experience conducting competency reviews and training management.
• Understanding of High-Speed Rail (HS2) project requirements, particularly EKFB.

Desirable

• Experience supporting or leading ECoWs and ensuring ecological compliance.
• Creating inclusive team environments.

Qualifications

Essential

• SMSTS/SSSTS.
• CSCS Card.
• Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
• First Aid at Work.
• Relevant tickets including strimming, ride-on mower, brush cutter, PA6A, and chainsaw.
