An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our organisation following substantial investment in a new state-of-the-art integrated corrugated packaging plant. We are now seeking an accomplished Plant Engineering Manager to lead engineering strategy, optimise asset performance, and drive continuous improvement across this flagship facility.
We are seeking an experienced Plant Engineering Manager to lead all engineering and maintenance activities at our new corrugated packaging manufacturing site. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring plant reliability, asset performance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across corrugating and converting operations.
Responsibilities including:
- Lead and manage engineering and maintenance activities across the site
- Ensure safe, reliable operation of all plant and equipment, including corrugator, conversion machines and peripheral equipment
- Develop and deliver preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Drive improvements in uptime, OEE, and asset performance
- Manage engineering budgets, spares, and contractor performance
- Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, PUWER, LOLER, and site safety systems
- Recruit, lead, coach, and develop multi-skilled engineering teams
- Support capital investment projects, installations, and commissioning
- Work closely with Operations and Production to achieve business objectives
Skills & experience:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar within the UK corrugated packaging industry
- Strong technical knowledge of corrugators and converting equipment
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-skilled engineering teams
- Experience with CI tools, root cause analysis, and asset management systems
- Strong knowledge of UK engineering and health & safety compliance
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Engineering Management and Project Management skills to lead plant initiatives and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Candidates should possess Team Leadership skills to supervise, coach, and develop multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance staff.
- Candidates should possess Software Development and Integration skills to support equipment control systems, data collection, and integration with plant-wide platforms.
- Candidates should possess experience with manufacturing or industrial engineering environments, preferably in corrugated packaging or high-volume production.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, and health and safety standards within a plant setting.
- Candidates should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across operations, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Candidates should possess a relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or equivalent experience; professional certifications in engineering or project management are an advantage.
