The role
The Senior Event Manager will be responsible for the development and overall management of high‑quality events to an agreed brief, meeting financial targets and strict deadlines. The successful candidate will work closely with the programming, marketing and sales teams to ensure the smooth execution of events. This role is a 12 month fixed‑term contract.
Responsibilities
- Project manage a variety of events including but not limited to virtual webinars and conferences, bespoke client roundtables, large scale events including exhibitions.
- Ensure the smooth execution of event production and logistics, including preparation of all event materials, room and exhibition allocation, catering, signage, AV, staffing schedules and onsite delivery.
- Line manage the London event team and freelancers.
- Manage other event team members during project delivery.
- Liaise with the marketing team, sales team and event programming team in order to keep event projects on track.
- Create, maintain and monitor individual budgets for all events for which you are directly responsible, working creatively to maintain cost control and quality of event, including identification of and negotiation with venues, suppliers, and other contractors.
- Make recommendations on what sponsorship activations may be possible at selected venues and act as sponsor and exhibitor liaison, ensuring contract fulfilment and handling any queries before, during, and after the event.
- Liaise with speakers on audio‑visual requirements, collation of presentation materials, flights and accommodation, etc.
- Manage VIPs and senior stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
- Make travel and accommodation arrangements for on‑site team.
- Attend all assigned events and direct staff on‑site.
- Work with the Sales team to manage RFPs and create client solutions.
Who you are
- Proven experience gained in a similar role within the events industry.
- Strong spoken and written English skills. A second language would be advantageous.
- Ability to plan, drive and manage different projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to take on cost management responsibility.
- Confidence and professional approach (on the telephone and face‑to‑face) when dealing with speakers, sponsors, delegates and suppliers at a very senior level.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Dedication to customer service and the ability to work well with clients.
- Results‑driven spirit – ability to recommend solutions to problems and take action.
- Ownership of projects and ad‑hoc tasks.
- Effective communication with peers and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cross‑cultural sensitivity and ability to perform effectively in an international environment.
- Ability to travel internationally if needed and to fulfil flexible working hours during busy periods.
Working Arrangements
The majority of our roles operate on a hybrid working pattern, with 3+ days office attendance required.
