Project Overview
The research associate will work in the Department of Engineering on Power Electronics and Batteries, focusing on developing the technological basis, studying transient behaviour of batteries, and building test equipment for battery studies. The role involves design of high‑precision high‑accuracy analog electronics, wide‑bandwidth low‑voltage high‑current (at least 50 A) power electronics, embedded control and interface software. Knowledge of op‑amp circuits, their stability, and embedded controllers is desired.
Responsibilities
Generate novel concepts, analyse them theoretically and demonstrate performance experimentally through prototype development and implementation. Build professional set‑ups that can be delivered to partners. Document and disseminate results in tier‑one journal papers. Coordinate work with partners, report status, and support acquisition of funds for follow‑on work.
Qualifications
- Experience in higher‑current low‑voltage high‑bandwidth circuits
- Knowledge of precision, low‑noise and low‑offset operational and instrumentation amplifiers, accurate analogue‑digital conversion, embedded controllers
- Understanding of real‑time measurement data streaming and storage
- Previous knowledge in battery behaviour
- Proven track record of publishing in tier‑1 journals
- Experience dealing with international collaborations
- Ability to prepare status reports and lead a status meeting
