The studentship is supported for 3 years and includes tuition fees at Home Student rates plus a stipend of £6,000 per annum, rising at 5% per year for 3 years.

The Laudato Si’ Research Institute, based at Campion Hall, and the Faculty of Theology & Religion, University of Oxford invite applications for the LSRI Ecotheology Scholarship. Applicants must be working in the field of ecotheology, defined as any branch of theology that explores the relationship between religion, faith, and the natural environment. The research project must include engagement with systematic theology or with political theology (or other areas of applied theology).

Funding: The Scholarship covers full fees (at current full-time Home student rates only) and offers a personal stipend of £6,000 per year for three years (rising at 5% per year). The scholarship is open to international scholars, subject to necessary student visa and other conditions set by the University of Oxford. However, the scholarship can only meet Home fees; any remainder must be met by the student separately.

Oxford University College / Permanent Private Hall: The scholar would be required to matriculate at Campion Hall and be a registered student at Campion Hall for the duration of the scholarship.

Supervision: Doctoral supervision will be agreed in association with Faculty of Theology & Religion, University of Oxford, and in line with the applicant’s specific needs. However, it is anticipated that one supervisor will be supplied by the Laudato Si’ Research Institute.

Applications: Applications for the DPhil Theology and Religion must be made through the University of Oxford Graduate Admissions portal. Selection will be made via the University admissions procedure. You will be required to submit supporting documents including: transcripts, degree certificates, a research proposal, your CV and references. When making an application, you should indicate that you wish to be considered for the LSRI Ecotheology Scholarship. This entails acceptance of membership at Campion Hall, University of Oxford. Shortlisted candidates must be available for an in-person interview at Campion Hall on 3 March 2026.
