Cambridge Stem Cell Institute is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Histology Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the senior histologist with preparation and processing of samples for microscopic examination in a cutting-edge research institute and assisting in the running of the facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in histology and an efficient, professional and friendly approach. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of imaging professionals, who specialise in light and electron microscopy.

We are looking for an experienced, methodical and organised histology technician to fit into the team. You should be happy working independently, or as part of a team. Ideally, you will have experience with a range of histological preparation techniques and have significant experience with the preparation and handling of both paraffin and cryopreserved specimens, cutting sections, staining and mounting sections both by hand and using automated equipment and, ideally, some experience of electron microscopy specimen preparation.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed, and an enthusiastic demeanour would be ideal to maintain the high level of quality the institute requires in its ongoing research. The ability to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively is essential.

An A level/NVQ3 educational level, or equivalent, with a good knowledge of mouse and human anatomy is also required. This is a full time role of 36.5 hours per week. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance. £31,236 to £35,608 per annum.
