We wish to appoint a Research Associate working 37 hours per week to join the Timely Team in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, on a 1-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension. The Timely programme is working to deliver digitally supported pathways for early identification and prevention of health problems in children and young people timely.org.uk. Inclusive of a national data platform to support paediatric research cadre.org.uk. As part of this role, you will lead projects that have the potential to significantly improve research and healthcare pathways. You will collaborate with multiple agencies and industry and ultimately make a meaningful impact on children’s lives.
The program is undertaking a range of projects to improve child mental health services, aiming to re‑organise them to support early identification and help children and families access support sooner. The postdoc will be involved in leading this work around pathway design. Patient and public involvement is a critical aspect of this work. A key project, in collaboration with DATAMIND, involves initiating and testing methods for engaging Children and Young People (CYP) and parents/guardians in PPIE work relating to the use of administrative data for research, with emphasis on underserved groups. A Toolkit will be created.
You will be responsible for leading a range of related research activities including systematic literature reviews, stakeholder engagement (e.g., GPs, CYP, and their families), data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, workshops), data analysis (e.g., mixed methods, qualitative, quantitative), co‑design activities, and academic publications.
The appointee will also provide regular academic supervision to PhD students, focusing on developing and integrating AI‑driven early identification tools into primary care pathways. NB this would be to support the work of the PhD students, rather than a primary PhD supervisor role.
The appointee may also line‑manage Research Assistants supporting the wider multidisciplinary CADRE and Timely programmes.
Additionally, a component of the role will involve leading and contributing to PPIE activities to support critical components of the programme, relating to industry access to data for research, engagement of underrepresented groups, and transparency with the public. This work may include re‑engaging and managing operations for CA:RING ca-ring.co.uk.
