Econ Engineering is the UK's largest supplier of winter maintenance vehicles, known for our innovative and reliable fleet solutions. We are expanding and seeking a Mobile HGV Technician to join our team, based from home and covering the surrounding areas. This role supports our mission of delivering high-quality service to our growing customer base.

As a Mobile HGV Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of modern winter maintenance vehicles. Your primary responsibilities will include routine maintenance, repairs, and breakdown assistance. Experience working on Mercedes and DAF trucks is highly beneficial, as is holding an HGV Class 2 license or equivalent. In addition, we provide comprehensive product training to ensure you're fully equipped to excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Breakdown and Repair Services: Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and ensure our vehicles remain operational, especially during peak winter periods.
  • Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Accurately diagnose using supplied diagnostics equipment, reported issues and conduct the necessary repairs, maintaining high standards in safety and efficiency.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing following manufacturer recommendations to keep the fleet in top condition.
  • Documentation: Use a tablet to complete all necessary paperwork accurately, ensuring maintenance records are up-to-date and accessible.

You will be equipped with a high-specification van containing specialised tools and diagnostics equipment to support your work. Additional training and support will be available from our manufacturing facilities and local team to ensure you have the resources needed to succeed.

This role requires flexibility, particularly in the winter months when demand can increase with the change in weather. The primary call-out season runs from early October to the end of April, during the summer months focus will be on preparing the fleet for the upcoming winter, this may include work based in the surrounding areas and other site locations as agreed.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience repairing and maintaining HGV/PSV. Having prior experience as a Mobile HGV Technician or in a similar role would be advantageous. You will be a proactive, experienced commercial vehicle engineer who enjoys both independent work and collaboration with a team. You are comfortable with flexible hours, adapting to the seasonal nature of the job, and committed to maintaining high standards in vehicle servicing and customer support.
