Development Lead – Office-Based in Manchester – Up to £85,000
Ecom Recruitment is proud to be working with a fast-growing tech-driven organisation in Manchester that’s building the future of payroll solutions.
We’re on the lookout for a hands-on Development Lead to join their team on-site in Manchester, leading the delivery of a modern payroll platform using a robust tech stack including C#, .NET, Azure, and React.
This is a great opportunity for a seasoned developer who’s passionate about mentoring others, delivering real business value, and helping shape technical direction in a collaborative, people-first environment.
The Role
- Take full ownership of delivery from idea to live product.
- Lead a cross-functional team to build and maintain business-critical payroll solutions.
- Act as a coach and mentor for your development team—setting clear goals and guiding their growth.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across tech and product, including the Associate Director – Payroll and the CTO.
- Drive engineering best practices including TDD, pairing, peer reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, BAs, and QAs to ensure smooth, predictable delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- A proven background in leading software development teams in a hands-on capacity.
- Strong experience with C#/.NET, Azure (Functions, Logic Apps), and React.
- Experience line managing engineers and helping them reach their career goals.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple disciplines.
- A passion for quality code, clean architecture, and modern development practices.
