Founded in 1996, Mercanta is a leading importer of green coffee, dedicated to investing in quality and relationships. We source a diverse range of coffees from over twenty producing countries, distributing to a network of small to medium-sized boutique coffee roasters worldwide. With offices in multiple locations, our mission is to deliver sustainably sourced, speciality-grade coffee with bespoke account management services to as many roasters as possible.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is a keen learner to join our small Glasgow team. We are looking for someone who is looking to develop their career and take ownership in supporting the day-to-day running of the Glasgow office. Full training will be provided, including the opportunity to study at the London School of Coffee. No previous experience in coffee is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of coffee samples and coffee cupping (tastings)
- Roasting the coffee samples
- Receiving and dispatching samples and stock
- Inventory Control and raising invoices
- Data input in Microsoft Excel
- Opportunity for occasional travel to support trade shows and events globally
- Keeping the Glasgow office clean and tidy and running smoothly
Required Qualifications
- 1 years’ experience within an office environment
- Team player who is also comfortable working autonomously
- Well-organized, intuitive, and enthusiastic
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel
- A keen learner who strives for continuous improvement
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Willingness to travel and participate in trade shows
- An interest in coffee and learning more about coffee
