Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the role is to serve as the company’s Qualified Supervisor, ensuring technical compliance and high quality across all electrical works while actively applying your expertise as a Field Engineer to tackle complex repairs and diagnostics.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the company’s electrical schemes, including regular audits, technical assessments and ensuring full compliance with all standards (NICEIC/MCS/etc.).
- Dedicate an allocated portion of time each month to fulfil all QS requirements, including inspection, reporting and sign‑off/certification.
- Provide high‑level technical support and mentorship to the field electrician team, acting as the primary point of escalation for complex fault‑finding issues.
- Perform diagnostics, planned maintenance and reactive repairs on all electrical technologies (Solar PV, ASHPs, EV chargers, among others).
- Ensure strict adherence to all health & safety policies, carrying out risk assessments and working safely in occupied and unoccupied client properties.
- Provide clear, detailed technical reports and recommendations following any job where further work is required to facilitate the operations team in the efficient preparation of client quotes and proposals.
Skills to Demonstrate
- Expert‑level knowledge of electrical regulations, standards (BS 7671) and compliance frameworks for renewable technologies.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to audit and mentor field staff effectively.
- Exceptional organisational skills and rigorous attention to detail for compliance documentation and reporting.
- Advanced practical fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities across diverse electrical systems.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology or equivalent (mandatory).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018) certification (mandatory).
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent qualification (mandatory).
- AM2/AM2S/AM2E assessment certificate, as applicable to your qualification route (mandatory).
- Current QS registration with a recognised body (NICEIC) or immediate eligibility for registration.
- Relevant certifications for working on renewable technologies (Solar PV, EV charging) are preferred but training can be provided.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A DBS check is required for this role (or willingness to undergo one).
Package Offered
- Highly competitive salary (£48,000 – £55,000 depending on experience and qualifications), inclusive of enhanced QS responsibility allowance.
