About the role
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust manages some of the finest chalk grassland and neutral grassland habitats in Britain, many of which are nationally and internationally important for wildlife. These sites are spread across Wiltshire and rely on carefully planned conservation grazing to maintain and restore their ecological value. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Grazing Officer to lead the day‑to‑day delivery of our southern conservation grazing operation. Based at Riverside, Langford Lakes Nature Reserve, you will be responsible for managing up to 70 cattle and wintering sheep across a network of nature reserves, ensuring the highest standards of livestock welfare while delivering conservation outcomes that support nature recovery across the county.
Key responsibilities
- Working closely with the Farm Manager, Conservation Lead and Estates Team, you will coordinate grazing programmes, oversee livestock husbandry, maintain statutory records, and support a wide range of habitat management activities including grassland restoration, fencing, scrub management and estate maintenance.
- The role also includes responsibility for maintaining grazing infrastructure, supporting volunteers and trainees, and participating in an emergency call‑out rota.
