In this role, you will be responsible for installing solar PV systems on commercial properties and on solar farms, ensuring all work meets safety regulations and industry standards.The ideal candidate will have experience in solar PV installation or a background in mechanical or electrical installation. We\’re looking for individuals with a strong commitment to high-quality workmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver projects efficiently and on time.Key responsibilities You will play a key role in every stage of the installation process, from initial planning to project completion, including:Project Planning Collaborate with team members to plan and coordinate the installation processPreparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and other H&S documentation (e.g. implementing Permit to Work (PTW) systems, conducting COSHH assessments)Collaborate with a Delivery Team Coordinate with a delivery team to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality installationsOversee and manage subcontractors and contractors working on-site to ensure high-quality installations and compliance with safety standards.Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and partnersActively support and uphold our commitment to a respectful workplaceCoordinate toolbox talks and safety briefingsProject Execution Assess locations for solar panel suitability and review layout plansMeasure and mark out installation areas accuratelyPrepare building surfaces for panel installationMount and install solar panels on roofs and other structuresEnsure installations meet industry standards and design specificationsTroubleshoot and resolve installation issuesConnect solar panels to electrical systemsAdhere to strict health and safety guidelinesMaintain accurate records of completed work and materials usedDocumentation of quality controlProject Completion Test and commission the system ensuring optimal performancePerform DC testing and fault finding to verify system functionalityEnsure proper commissioning and prepare handover documentationRequirements Ideally 5+ years experience in solar installation or a mechanical or electrical installation roleNVQ Level 3 in a relevant field (e.g. electrical installation, renewable energy, or engineering).Health and safety qualifications – SMSTS/SSSTS (desirable, training can be provided)Valid telehandler certification/license (desirable, training can be provided)Skills and capabilities Experience, reading, writing and amending Risk Assessments and Method Statements.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical manuals.Experience managing teamsExcellent time management and organisation skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyWhat can Ecogen Energy offer you?
