What are we looking for?

  • Strong written English and good communication skills.
  • An interest in journalism, storytelling, communications or community engagement.
  • The ability to gather information from different people and turn it into clear, engaging content.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to meet agreed deadlines and work independently.
  • An interest in sustainability, climate action or community projects is an advantage.

Experience with newsletters, blogs, social media or content writing is welcome but not essential. We'll provide support and guidance as you learn the role.

What will you be doing?

What do you need the volunteer to do?

  • Gather updates from Eco Counts volunteers, project leads and events.
  • Write a clear, engaging weekly newsletter for volunteers and participants.
  • Produce a monthly public newsletter highlighting key projects and achievements.
  • Turn sustainability projects, events and community activities into interesting stories.
  • Work with the Eco Counts team to collect information from different people and present it in a consistent style.
  • Help celebrate successes, improve communication and keep volunteers informed and connected.
  • Attend occasional Eco Counts Monday meetings (or work remotely) to better understand our projects and community.
