We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic iOS Developer to join our ecobee UK team. You will be part of ecobee’s Smart Security group, building fully native Swift experiences for our IoT-connected cameras and sensors. You’ll work on features that help customers monitor and protect their homes — including real-time video, security workflows, device control, and subscription experiences. Our development practices are modern, and you will collaborate daily with Product Managers, Design, QA, Backend, and Firmware engineers to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences. ecobee products are used in millions of homes across North America, and you’ll be joining during a period of rapid growth and innovation for our Smart Security portfolio. The UK team works in a hybrid model, coming together two days per week at our waterfront office in Leeds city centre.

The ecobee mobile app is the gateway to the ecobee Smart Home ecosystem, providing control and insights for thermostats, cameras, sensors, and security features. Our iOS codebase is modern — almost entirely Swift, built with programmatic UI (no storyboards) and an internal component framework. We ship to production every two weeks using feature flags to manage trials and experiments. You will join a multidisciplinary team where you can make an immediate impact, whether by delivering high-quality code, shaping technical decisions, or collaborating closely with the design team to create exceptional user experiences. We’re looking for an engineer who is passionate about building reliable, intuitive products for real customers — not just writing code.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and domain experts to design and deliver customer-focused features
  • Contribute high-quality code through pull requests, code reviews, and architectural discussions
  • Lead or support larger initiatives as needed
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • Professional experience developing iOS applications using Swift
  • Strong experience building user interfaces for iPhone and iPad
  • A product mindset with a focus on usability, reliability, and customer value
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills
  • Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating across disciplines
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Experience with video streaming or IoT devices is a plus
