Location: Live within 45 minutes travel from Newcastle

Salary: £40,000 FTE plus a generous bonus scheme and benefits

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

Eco2Solar are pleased to announce a new and exciting opportunity to join the UK’s largest and most successful Solar PV installer, recently invested in by EON, as a Renewables Electrician based in Newcastle. This role will help you future‑proof your career by installing EV chargers, Solar PV systems, battery storage and innovative products for new‑build housing developers to meet carbon reduction targets.

About the role

The Renewables Electrician role offers an opportunity to build, develop and grow your career with a highly reputable and growing company. You will stay ahead of the latest technology, working in partnership with EON and the UK’s largest new‑build solar installer. Your mission is to achieve the highest standard of quality, safety and customer service in low‑carbon electrical installations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safe and efficient installation of PV systems (inverters and generation meters).
  • Accurate and timely submission of paperwork.
  • Compliance with MCS and Health, Safety and Quality standards.
  • Travel to sites daily; overnight stays may be required.
  • Attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and technological competence using apps for certifications and reports.
  • Work both as part of a team and independently, delivering excellent service and managing your own workload.

About you

Previous experience in solar installations and/or domestic new builds is required. You should have:

  • 18th Edition electrical qualifications (BS7671).
  • N/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (Building and Structures) or a completed apprenticeship with AM2.

It would be helpful but not essential if you have:

  • Solar certification (BPEC or City & Guilds) Level 3 Award in the Installation of Small‑Scale PV Systems.
  • CSCS/ECS Card for site works.
  • Testing and Inspection 2391‑52.
  • Experience in 3‑phase installations.

To be successful you’ll have strong communication skills, be reliable and a team player. You will work within established timeframes, possess excellent time‑keeping skills, be flexible in working arrangements, and be driven to go the extra mile to ensure a high‑quality service for customers.

  • Solar PV 2nd‑fix installation – 45% of time, daily; aim to achieve 15 standard 2nd‑fix installs and commission them within a working week.
  • Completion of electrical certification and forms – 25% of time, weekly; ensure all paperwork is completed on the day and submitted to the electrical QS.
  • Health and safety compliance – 20% of time, monthly; maintain zero RIDDOR reportable accidents and submit monthly H&S reports.
  • Successful audits – 10% of time, monthly; achieve compliance with regulations and good working practices through audits.
