The Lighting Sales Engineer / BDM is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Leicester area, with a combination of on-site and work-from-home flexibility. The role involves identifying client needs, conducting site surveys, and developing energy-efficient lighting proposals that meet technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements. The Lighting Sales Engineer will prepare lighting designs using Relux software, quotations software and support clients through the sales cycle, and collaborate with design, engineering, and installation teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Daily activities include:
- Building and maintaining customer relationships
- Managing a sales pipeline
- Providing technical product guidance
- Preparing presentations and reports
The role also requires ongoing market research to stay current with lighting technologies and industry trends, and participation in internal meetings and training to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability in technical sales or engineering, preferably within lighting, electrical, or related building services.
- Strong understanding of energy-efficient lighting technologies, basic electrical principles, and relevant standards or regulations.
- Electrical installation BS7671 part 1&2 would be an advantage.
- Experience conducting site surveys, producing proposals, and preparing accurate quotations for commercial or industrial projects.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with common office software (e.g., MS Office) and willingness to learn CRM or project management tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and balance time between client visits and office/home-based tasks.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- Relevant education such as a technical qualification or degree in engineering, building services, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience in commercial or industrial environments and an interest in sustainability and energy efficiency are advantageous.
