Role Description
This full‑time, on‑site Experienced Heating Engineer role is based in Reading and involves installing, servicing, and maintaining central heating systems and related equipment. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and conducting routine inspections to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. The role also covers general plumbing work, system upgrades, and occasional support with building maintenance tasks related to heating and hot water. The engineer will interact directly with customers, providing clear explanations of work carried out, offering energy‑efficient recommendations, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The position requires accurate record‑keeping, adherence to health and safety regulations, and collaboration with colleagues to deliver timely and reliable service.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in central heating systems, including installation, servicing, and fault diagnosis.
- Experience working with LPG systems, with appropriate certifications or training for LPG safety and handling.
- Proficient plumbing skills, covering pipework, fittings, and hot water systems.
- Background in building maintenance related to heating, ventilation, and associated infrastructure.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and maintain professionalism on‑site.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship in heating engineering, plumbing, or a related field (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices for domestic and commercial heating systems.
- Full valid driving license and willingness to travel locally for on‑site work.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and maintain accurate service records.
