Your role

ECMWF is seeking to fill an exciting new position as Partnerships and Engagement Specialist in the National Partnerships Team of ECMWF’s Partnerships and Engagement Section.

The role focuses on implementing the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) National Collaboration Programme (NCP) and managing dialogues with country representatives and technical stakeholders.

It also involves engagement activities with ECMWF Member States, including liaison visits and coordination of Pilot Projects.

  • Your responsibilities
  • Technical management of CAMS NCP contracts and grants to ensure delivery of agreed output, providing guidance and involving relevant topic experts.
  • Stimulate and facilitate dialogues with national stakeholders, exploring horizontal synergies and proposing improvements for further engagements.
  • Support national user uptake actions in cooperation with European agencies and science institutions.
  • Steer collection and analysis of user feedback about CAMS products and services resulting from the NCP.
  • Manage and coordinate ECMWF Pilot Projects and seek synergies with the NCP.
  • Contribute to ECMWF Member State liaison visits in preparation, execution and aftercare.
  • Promote ECMWF, CAMS and C3S and their NCP at national and international user uptake events, including through liaison visits and training actions.
  • Work closely with scientific and technical colleagues in Forecasts and Services, Research Departments, Communication Section and User Services Section.
  • Occasional travel to European countries and other duty stations of ECMWF as needed.

Your profile

Essential criteria

  • Advanced university degree (EQF Level 7 or above) in Meteorology, Climate Sciences, Environmental Engineering or a similar scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience of engaging with national public authorities and/or national meteorological services.
  • Solid understanding of atmospheric chemistry, meteorology and other environmental data generation and their relevance in national context.
  • Good knowledge of institutional and policy structures at national and European level, including data access and applicability.
  • Experience gathering user needs and requirements and translating those into operational and innovation actions.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable criteria

  • Advanced knowledge of European environmental policies.
  • Experience managing projects, ideally in an international context.
  • Knowledge of French, German or another member state or cooperating state language.

Grade remuneration

The successful candidate will be recruited according to the scales of the Co‑ordinated Organisations. Salary scales and allowances available on the ECMWF website.

Starting date

as soon as possible.

Candidate expected to relocate to the duty station. ECMWF has a hybrid model allowing flexibility to mix office working and teleworking up to 10 days per month.
