Overview
This company is looking for a junior electronics engineer with an interest in expanding their circuit design and PCB layout skills across analogue and digital domains. They make high-end scientific instrumentation with often unusual electrical requirements and seek a candidate with strong electronics fundamentals and good systems level thinking.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day circuit design and PCB layout across analogue and digital domains.
- Work with high voltage circuits and design around strong EM and RF fields.
- Design control circuits for industrial equipment (valves, pumps, etc.), including digital control with microcontrollers.
- Contribute to achieving high-speed and high-resolution measurement requirements through hardware design.
- Collaborate with leading experts in a team-based, hands-on environment to develop practical electronics skills.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable practical electronics skills and knowledge beyond university coursework.
- Experience or interest in commercial projects or hands-on PhD work related to electronics.
- Examples of real-world projects (e.g., radio rigs, Formula Student electronics, etc.) that show engineering ability.
About the team and environment
The company is small but long established, located a few miles north of Cambridge and backed by a larger parent company. Assembly takes place in the lab downstairs alongside R&D prototypes, creating a collaborative and hands-on environment. They are situated close to good rail and road links and offer a benefits package in addition to traditions like the Friday pub lunch.
