This well-established company has a leading global presence in advanced materials for use in engineering and research, with a host of related services. In this role, take the lead with new and prospective clients, capture requirements, tailor and coordinate the solution, and in doing so, secure the customer’s business, negotiating and closing the deal.
The role will suit someone with experience in a prior commercial role providing engineering solutions, or in applications engineering with a strong track record of securing sales. You’ll be supported by account managers and technical specialists, and help to grow and develop a team of colleagues around you.
You will have:
- A good technical degree in a STEM subject and strong supporting academic grades; you may even have a PhD. You will have degree-level or higher knowledge of engineering materials, either from education or elsewhere.
- Significant expertise in a client-facing technical capacity, working with business clients in the engineering sector, such as the development of engineering solutions, or applications engineering, or product management, or even technical sales.
- Likely from the above, the technical leadership skills required to shepherd client projects from early stage discussions through to delivery.
- The mindset towards commercial aspects and negotiation, including good judgement on pricing and margins, and pitching at a level to secure business; you will have had demonstrable success in these respects in the past.
You’d be joining a growing company, expanding both through hiring and acquisitions. If you have microfabrication or materials testing / analysis experience, that is also a bonus. A highly competitive salary and benefits are on offer, and hybrid work options likely extend to one, perhaps two, days per week from home.
